Spicey

Went to the Rainbow Bridge 12/06

Spicey came to rescue from an Amish puppy mill in Lancaster.  They were going to shoot her because she was no longer able to have puppies.  It took two litters being born dead to convince them she could not produce any live litters.  A concerned person begged and begged until they released Spicey to her.  She then turned Spicey over to a Doberman rescue.

Spicey was then placed with a husband and wife who loved her so much.  The wife and Spicey spent each and every day together.  They became the best of friends.  Earlier this year, Spicey's new mom lost her battle with a terminal illness and passed away.

A few months later, Spicey's health began to decline.  It was discovered she had kidney disease.  She finally lost her battle and passed away during the 2006 Christmas holiday.

Spicey's spirit will remain alive in our hearts forever.

Spicey is a perfect example of a puppy mill parent.  While her offspring look beautiful sitting in all of the pet stores, her health suffers and declines because she is only important for one thing - making babies!  She was used as a puppy factory and tossed aside when she could no longer provide an income.

When she was spayed her uterus was many times larger than a normal uterus and there were multiple cysts all over her uterus.  This was the result of over breeding.

Spicey's life was cut short because she was used and abused by a puppy miller whose only concern was how much money he could rake in from her offspring.  As soon as she was no longer able to produce,  he intended on shooting her.  Shame on him and everyone like him.

DDRI vows, in the memory of Spicey, to educate the public and assist in putting an end to these puppy mills.  Please join us in the fight against puppy mills!

Spicey's life could have been much longer if she had received proper medical care and not been used as a money machine.

We will always love you Spicey!
