How You Can Support DDRI
Fostering - We have a great need for foster homes. Doberman foster homes keep the dog in their home until a suitable adoption can be arranged. The amount of families we have helping in this area directly affects how many Dobermans we can save. The more homes we have, the more Dobermans we can save. This is our greatest area of need. Home Visits - Volunteers arrange to meet potential adopters at their place of residence. The volunteer assesses the home and then completes a home visit form. The volunteer then reviews their findings with the other volunteers and officers. Home visits are not completed until all reference checks are complete.Transporting/Appointments - This could involve picking up a Doberman that is being surrendered by its owner, a Doberman at animal control/an animal shelter and delivering it to its foster home. It would also include taking Dobermans from their foster home to various appointments. Special Events/Fundraising - Our rescue has several public events each year, including the Pet Expo, other pet events, several small craft shows, etc. We can always use more help transporting equipment, setting up, tearing down, etc. Help making items that will be sold would be very helpful. If you have a natural creative talent, this could be the perfect outlet!**All volunteers must complete an application, undergo a home visit and personal interview. We want to get to know you, learn about your dog and Doberman experience and any special skills or interests you may have. DDRI is a non-profit organization. We do not have our 501(c)3 status yet, but we anticipate that happening in early 2007. We do charge an adoption fee for our dogs, but the fee only covers a portion of the costs involved in rescuing these Dobermans. We operate financially on the adoption fees and our fundraising efforts. It would not be possible to function without monetary donations from our supporters. If you would like to supply a monetary gift for a specific Doberman, you can sponsor that dog. Your name or your organization's name will appear on that Doberman's bio on our web site. You will receive updates on your Doberman twice weekly which will include a journal of progress, activities and photos. You will also be notified as soon as your sponsored Doberman is adopted.
