Oliver is a 7 year old fawn Doberman that is hairless - well he has a few hairs, but not many. He has Color Dilution Alopecia which is common with blue and fawn Dobermans. CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFO ON CDA His owner no longer wanted him and took him to a vet clinic in GA to be euthanized. The staff at the clinic liked Oliver so much and asked the man if they could try to find Oliver a new home. The owner agreed and signed over ownership to the vet clinic. The vet clinic set out on a mission to find a rescue or home for Oliver because he could not stay there forever and would face possible euthanasia again. We offered to bring Oliver to our rescue where he could find a forever home or remain in our care for the rest of his life. We have had many inquiries about Oliver and we want to make it perfectly clear that he will NOT be euthanized here. He will remain with DDRI until he finds a home. If he does not find a home, he will remain in the care of DDRI for the rest of his life - so, he is safe. He is great with other dogs and extremely playful. He loves to play with toys and will run around like a puppy. He shows no interest in cats. Oliver is a perfect gentleman and has impeccable manners. Oliver was adopted by a fabulous family in the North Hills (suburb of Pittsburgh). It takes very special people to adopt a special needs dog. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! From Oliver's new mom:
Oliver is getting along nicely. He sleeps
with my oldest son Paul, and then gets on my bed with me and Lexi after
Paul gets up for school. The vet said he is beautiful and recommended
that I continue with the fish oil and also recommended a moisturizing
shampoo to keep his skin clear and healthy. He really loves the
California Natural (not surprising, as he seems to like ALL food and
treats!!) He has also started to play with Lexi a little bit. So far she
has been very accepting of him and has been sharing quite nicely, she has
even been wagging her stub at him. I have been crating him when I have to
go out, and he has done okay, as he has not had to be in the crate for
longer than an hour and a half at most. I have attached some pictures of
him with both Paul and Lexi.
Thank you for the opportunity to give him his
permanent home.
